Short answer: Level and evolve your Raven first, assign Epigraphs to the faction squad you actually use, and never craft Warrior epigraphs for a Ranger lineup — the system multiplies a strong squad or wastes months of materials on the wrong set.
The Raven is not a cosmetic pet. In Last Asylum: Plague it sits alongside your five heroes as an extra combat piece — extra damage, extra stats, and (once the Epigraph Plan unlocks) a full secondary gear layer tied to Warrior, Ranger, or Warlock squads. Done right, it is one of the largest late-game power spikes on your account. Done wrong — wrong faction epigraphs, random star-ups, ignoring evolve gates — it eats Raven Essence, Honor coins, and alliance currency with almost nothing to show for it.
This guide covers the full loop: Raven Nest leveling and evolve, Raven gear fusion, Epigraph Workshop crafting, squad assignment, star promotion, and where to farm every chest. Pair it with the fastest way to increase power overview and the hero leveling priority guide so your Raven buffs a squad that already wins fights.
The Three Raven Buildings (What Each One Does)
Three buildings touch the Raven loop. Only one of them is “set and forget.”
| Building | Role | Your focus |
|---|---|---|
| Raven Workshop | Passive production — generates items over time | Upgrade when you have spare wood/grain; not the main grind |
| Raven Nest | Raven level and evolve — the core stat track | Daily priority once the system is unlocked |
| Epigraph Workshop | Craft and upgrade Epigraphs (faction squad augments) | Mid–late game; locked behind workshop level and Raven evolve |
Treat the Raven Nest as a sixth combat unit you level with Raven Fruit and Raven Essence. Every 10 levels you can Evolve the Raven, which raises its ceiling and — critically — unlocks more of the Epigraph Plan.
Plan evolve costs with the Raven level calculator and Raven evolve calculator before you dump scarce essence.

Raven Leveling and Evolve — Do This Before Epigraph Min-maxing
Level = raw Raven stats (attack, defense, HP — whatever the nest UI shows for your account).
Evolve = milestone upgrades every 10 levels that consume Raven Essence and open higher Epigraph squad slots.
General order:
- Push Raven level steadily with Raven Fruit (and essence when evolve is available).
- Evolve on schedule — do not hoard essence forever; evolve gates Epigraph squads.
- Only then obsess over Epigraph crafting and star-ups.
Higher evolve stages also improve the stat multiplier on the Raven itself. The Epigraph Plan ties squad slots directly to evolve:
| Epigraph squad slot | Raven evolve required | Raven level gate (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| Squad 1 (free) | Evolve 1 | Unlocked with Epigraph feature |
| Squad 2 | Evolve 2 | ~Level 150 |
| Squad 3 | Evolve 3 | ~Level 300 |
| Squad 4 (often monthly pass) | Higher evolve tiers | ~450 / ~900 for later stages |
You only get one Epigraph layout for free at first. Assign it to your strongest main faction (Warriors early for most F2P accounts, Rangers after Capital War pivot — same logic as the power guide). Do not spread orange epigraphs across four squads before your primary lineup is finished.
Raven Gear — Fusion, Side Paths, and the Level 7 Wall
Raven gear is a separate inventory from hero UR gear. You collect pieces from Raven boxes, fuse duplicates, and upgrade one item per slot.
Rules that trip people up:
- One equipped piece per slot — you are not gearing five heroes here; you are gearing the Raven.
- Fuse spare gear into higher tiers instead of letting blues and greens pile up unused.
- Center mask and feather / claw side tracks each need their three adjacent pieces at level 7 before the middle item can hit level 7. Finish one side completely before you panic-switch to the other.
Raven gear feeds the Raven’s own combat contribution. Epigraphs feed your hero squads. Both matter; gear is usually the easier early win, Epigraphs are the long war.

Epigraph Workshop — Faction-Locked Crafting
The Epigraph Workshop (sometimes called “Epigraph Plan” in menus) is where you craft Epigraphs — think of them as faction-specific squad charms with four roles per layout:
| Slot role | Typical bonus focus |
|---|---|
| Defense specialist | Tankiness / damage reduction |
| Attack specialist | Raw damage |
| Support specialist | Buffs / utility |
| Total specialist | All-round stat bundle |
Critical rule: A Warrior Epigraph only buffs a Warrior squad. Ranger and Warlock epigraphs do the same for their factions. Crafting the wrong faction is the fastest way to “brick” weeks of materials.
Purple vs UR (orange) quality
- Purple epigraphs unlock when the Epigraph Workshop reaches level 15 (the building itself — plan Sanctuary gates if you are far below).
- UR / orange epigraphs use a different currency and are chase-tier. You will need multiple copies of the same epigraph to star them up — not just one craft and done.
Each star promotion uses a duplicate of the exact same epigraph. Orange duplicates are rare; budget for a long farm unless event chests bless you with repeats.

Star-up loop
- Craft or pull a purple / UR epigraph for your main faction.
- Equip the four-role set on Squad 1 (your primary march).
- When a duplicate drops, star the piece — stats scale hard on 2★ and above.
- Feed green / blue spare epigraphs as EXP fodder only after you confirm they are not future duplicates.
Made a mistake? Use the reset option on an upgraded epigraph to recover materials and re-route them into the correct faction set.

Switching Squads Without Rebuilding Your Account
You are not locked to one faction forever.
- Build one complete Epigraph set for your main squad first.
- When you unlock Squad 2 / 3 from Raven evolve, you can craft parallel sets for alt factions (PvP defense, Ranger pivot, Warlock niche).
- Swap which squad receives the Epigraph layout from the plan UI — useful when you have been Warrior-main for months and finally rotate to Rangers for kingdom war.
F2P-friendly approach: one perfected set beats four half-finished sets. Whales can afford three full layouts; most players should not try to match that on day one.
Where to Farm Raven & Epigraph Materials
Chests and currencies are scattered — that is intentional. Hit these on a rhythm:
| Source | What to buy / watch |
|---|---|
| Alliance shop | Raven boxes, upgrade EXP, SR chests |
| VIP shop | Raven Essence, epigraph-related chests (level 1 VIP store and up) |
| Honor shop | UR boot epic rough chest (random UR epigraph piece) — do not blow honor on cosmetics first |
| Expedition shop | Level 3 Raven chest when affordable |
| Sanctuary shop | Raven Essence bundles when they appear |
| Launch / value events | 7-day login boxes, Abyssal/Epigraph passes (~$5 tiers) with SSR sword chests and craft mats |
Expedition and Alliance shops are the F2P backbone. Paid passes are optional accelerators — the SSR chests are random rewards, not guaranteed dupes for your faction.
Cheese Trap, Thief Hunt, and seasonal events also drop Raven mats (see the power guide event table). Add Raven farming to your weekly routine once the Nest is unlocked, not as a one-time binge.

Chest Qualities (Same Ladder as Heroes)
Raven and Epigraph chests follow the familiar rarity ladder:
Green → R → SR → SSR → UR
Higher chests cost more currency but skip the low-tier fuse grind. When honor or alliance coins are tight, SR boxes still beat hoarding green junk you will never equip.
Recommended Upgrade Order (Checklist)
Use this when you log in and have Raven materials but are not sure what to tap:
- Raven Nest level — steady Raven Fruit spend.
- Raven Evolve on every 10-level milestone — unlocks Epigraph squads and multipliers.
- Raven gear fusion — one path to level 7 before splitting attention.
- Epigraph Workshop to 15 — unlock purple crafts for your main faction.
- Craft four-role purple set on Squad 1 — Warrior / Ranger / Warlock matching your main march.
- Star up duplicates before chasing UR orange crafts.
- Second squad only after Evolve 2+ and a finished primary set.
- Reset mis-crafted faction epigraphs instead of letting them sit.
Common Mistakes (Read This Before You Spend Honor)
- Crafting Ranger epigraphs while your only maxed squad is Warrior.
- Starving Raven evolve to buy random chests — squads stay locked.
- Upgrading center Raven gear before side pieces hit level 7.
- Buying Honor shop UR chests before you have a gear blueprint plan.
- Building four half sets instead of one maxed Squad 1.
The Raven system rewards patience and faction focus. Rush the wrong branch and you will feel “rocky” — the transcript’s word for accounts that look busy but lose anyway.
