Getting Started

New player basics, first-week priorities, and common early mistakes.

What is Last Asylum: Plague?

Last Asylum: Plague is a mobile strategy survival game published by Cloudwalker Ltd. and 37Games. You manage a sanctuary base, recruit heroes, research technology, train troops, and fight plague zones, bosses, and other players. Last Asylum Guide is an independent fan site — we are not affiliated with the developers.

What should I do in my first 24 hours?

Clear plague zones around your Sanctuary to unlock buildings, join an alliance, complete daily tasks, and start your Research Lab and Training Grounds. Our first 24 hours guide walks through the exact order — expansion, alliance gifts, and which buildings to prioritize before you spend speed-ups.

Is Last Asylum: Plague free to play?

Yes. You can progress without spending, but progression is faster with purchases. F2P players should focus on one main five-hero squad, buy Gear Blueprints from the honor shop (not curio chests), and push Sanctuary and Research Lab levels steadily. See our fastest way to increase power guide for the full F2P priority stack.

When should I switch to a Ranger squad?

Warrior heroes like Marlena work well for early PvE, but after your first Capital War the Ranger faction becomes the dominant meta. Plan to build Shadow, Zoya, Harper, and Daskal around your carry rather than spreading UR shards across every Warrior you pull. The first 24 hours guide explains when and why to pivot.

What are the biggest beginner mistakes?

The top five regrets we see: buying curio chests instead of gear blueprints, wasting UR shards on the wrong heroes, ignoring the Smelting Workshop, forging gear on the wrong slots, and maxing skills on secondary heroes. Read the top 5 beginner mistakes guide for the full do-not list with honor shop and gear screenshots.

Heroes & Tier List

Who to build, how to invest, and how we rank heroes.

Who are the best heroes for beginners?

Marlena is the best early carry for most accounts — star her before secondary warriors. Shadow, Zoya, Harper, and Daskal form the Ranger core for mid-game and PvP. Our tier list ranks every documented UR hero on this site, and each hero page includes skills, stats, and investment advice.

How should I level and gear my heroes?

Level your main damage dealer first, then your tank, then support. Forge weapons and gloves on your carry before spreading gear across the roster. Match purple or orange gear to the hero role and tier. The how to level up heroes guide covers squad formation, skill stone priority, and slot-by-slot gear screenshots.

Should I max one hero or spread resources across many?

Max one main squad of five heroes. A single red-star carry with proper gear outperforms five half-built heroes. Pour UR shards, skill stones, and forge materials into heroes you will still use at Sanctuary 30 — not every SSR you pull in week one.

How is your tier list ranked?

We rate heroes SS through D based on documented testing on this site: PvE bossing, PvP burst, F2P investment cost, and current faction meta. Marlena holds the only SS slot among heroes we have fully guide. Rankings update after major patches and when new hero guides publish.

Which hero pages do you have?

Full guides with skill breakdowns, stats images, and meta verdicts exist for Shadow, Marlena, Daskal, Harper, and Zoya. More heroes are added when we can verify in-game skill order and stats. Browse all heroes from the Heroes hub.

Base Building & Research

Sanctuary upgrades, research trees, and calculator tools.

What should I upgrade first in my base?

Sanctuary (headquarters) gates every other building, hero level cap, and research depth. Push Sanctuary as high as your resources allow, then Research Lab, Training Grounds, and Gear Workshop. Building calculators on this site show exact Wood, Grain, and Herb costs for every level.

What research should I prioritize?

Open Development first, push troop tiers through Military, then Alliance Duel and Economy branches. Skip caravan and late-game trees until your lab level allows them. The ultimate research roadmap guide ranks all 13 trees with screenshots of Development, Economy, and Alliance Duel nodes.

How do the building calculators work?

Go to Calculators, pick a building (Sanctuary, Research Lab, Farm, etc.), and select current and target levels. The tool totals resource costs across every upgrade step using data from our building database. Use it before spending speed-ups so you do not stall one level short.

Why does my research feel slow?

Research speed depends on Lab level, Sanctuary level, Development tree nodes, and whether you are spending Study Scrolls on side branches. Alliance Duel research is a common early trap — it matters, but not before core troop tiers and Construction Master nodes in Development.

Gift Codes & Events

Redeeming codes, update cadence, and week-one events.

How do I redeem a gift code?

Open the game, tap your profile avatar, go to Settings, find Gift Code or Redeem Code, enter the code exactly as shown (case-sensitive), and tap Confirm. Rewards arrive in your in-game mail. Our gift codes page lists verified codes and shows when we last checked them.

Why is my gift code not working?

Codes expire quickly and are often one-per-account. Double-check spelling and capitalization. If a code we list fails, it may have hit its global cap — contact us and we will remove or update it. We do not list unverified or fabricated codes.

When do new gift codes release?

Developers drop codes during launch milestones, seasonal events, alliance competitions, and social campaigns. Check our gift codes page after major patches. The first 7 days events guide covers week-one shops, packs worth skipping, and daily must-buy priorities.
